HOW TO GET REIMBURSED FOR STARS / MERIT CHILD CARE TRAINING CLASSES

Good news!  If you've taken STARS-approved child care training classes for your Washington State child care license, you're eligible for reimbursement !  The WA Department of Chiidren, Youth and Family provides eligible child care providers the opportunity for getting reimbursed for classes through their MERIT system (Managed Education and Registry Information Tool).

Here are the requirements for reimbursement:

1. You need to have a MERIT account with a STARS ID..

2. You may only apply for reimbursement up to $250 once each fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).  Keep this in mind as you're planning to meet your training requirements.

3. To learn about how to apply for reimbursement through your MERIT record, visit the DCYF website and scroll down to “Training Reimbursement” near the bottom of the page.

4.  The training must be completed through a STARS-approved trainer within the previous 12 months.  SafeGard Classes Online child care classes are approved by DCYF for STARS credit
