DEL STARS INITIAL 30 HOUR BASICS COURSES
The Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families (formerly DEL) requires new child care providers to complete 30 Hours of initial training. We offer the 30 Hour Basics courses for Child Care and for School Age, as well as the Bloodborne Pathogens and HIV/AIDS courses. All courses are online and accessible on tablets and phones.
These courses are required for:
- All family child care providers.
- Directors, program supervisors, site coordinators and lead staff in child care centers and school-age programs.
Additional health and safety requirements for facility employees are required by WAC. These requirements include current CPR/First Aid certification, HIV/AIDS Training, TB test, etc.
Child care aides, assistants, substitutes and volunteers are encouraged (but not required) to participate in ongoing professional development training opportunities. All individuals who independently supervise children need to meet the initial training requirements for their position.
