If you're interested in working in child care / daycare in the state of Florida, the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) has training requirements for new providers as well as annual in-service training.

For new providers, you'll need to start with 40 hrs of coursework offered by DCF within the first 90 days and have completed the curriculum within 1 year.  In addition, their is required training in Fire Extinguishers, Safe Sleep and Shaken Baby Syndrome as well as 5 hrs of Early Literacy training.

More information about this training can be found on the DCF Child Care Facility Training Requirements page.

Once you have completed your initial training, you'll need to complete 10 hours of in-service training during the state's fiscal period from July 1 - June 30.  SafeGard Classes Online has nearly 200 online courses accepted by Florida DCF for annual in-service training.
