Learning Objectives

After completing this class, the student will be able to:

• explain when literacy begins and the importance of reading and language development
• discuss the role of reading and language in developing literacy skills
• identify what to look for when selecting books for each age group
• list at least 3 basic language skills that children should be exhibiting within a specific age range
